Victoria Derbyshire

One of the BBC’s most established and reliable journalists, Victoria Derbyshire is a news broadcaster that has covered some of the biggest stories for radio and TV. From general elections to global tragedies and sporting events there isn’t, much Victoria hasn’t covered over the course of her 25-year career. As well as this Victoria found herself at the centre of the story in 2015. After being diagnosed with breast cancer she uploaded video diaries detailing her ordeal which went viral. An incredibly inspiring virtual speaker, at her events she can detail how she overcame this traumatic time in her life.

For more than 20 years Victoria has worked for BBC news hosting radio shows for 5Live as well as countless news bulletins, Newsnight and of course her own current affairs vehicle, Victoria Derbyshire. A big hit with both audiences and critics, Victoria has won countless awards for her work including six Sony awards, two Royal Television Society Awards, and a BAFTA. Her work on the radio has also achieved a number of impressive milestones. For example, it was the first show to broadcast life from Zimbabwe after the lifting of President Mugabe’s restrictions, the first show to be broadcast from an abortion clinic and an animal testing centre. Also a natural in front of a camera she’s the perfect choice for virtual events and can fascinate audiences with her stories from a career in journalism.

Victoria joined BBC Radio 5Live in 1998 working on the breakfast show before moving onto television. On-screen she has also fronted Watchdog, Have I Got News For You, and a variety of special programmes for Panorama. Victoria’s calm yet engaging and watchable tone has seen her the natural choice for a whole host of major stories including 9/11, the Manchester Arena bombing, and the Grenfell Tower fire.

Most recently Victoria has appeared on I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! and hosted a special Panorama episode raising awareness for domestic abuse during the lockdown. Having suffered violent abuse from her father as a child, this was a subject close to Victoria’s heart and her refreshingly honest approach makes her a popular choice among audiences during her virtual speaking events.
