Sir Terry Leahy is the man who spearheaded Tesco’s charge to the top of the supermarket industry. Working for the supermarket giants for over 30 years, he increased their market share from 20pc to 30pc and introduced the now-iconic Tesco Clubcard scheme. A top of the range virtual speaker, at all his events Terry can discuss how he transformed the Tesco brand into the global force it is today.
Upon joining Tesco Terry recognised how the supermarket was falling behind its competitors. To rectify this, he put together a plan built upon market knowledge. Following this the Tesco Clubcard was born and as well as rewarding customers for their loyalty, it allowed the retailers to track spending habits and make strategic decisions as a result giving them an advantage. Following his work at Tesco, he joined B&M Retail as Chairman of the Board and after putting together a new marketing plan the businesses’ revenue increased from £993 million to £2.7bn. He also oversaw the opening of more than 500 stores.
Now Terry primarily concentrates on helping small businesses to get started while acting as a special adviser to his favourite football team, Everton. Having worked at the very top of his profession for more than 30 years, Terry’s virtual speaking events reveal the secrets of retail success and business leadership.
