For his unrivalled success in the sport, Steve was named amongst the 100 Greatest Britons and his fifth Olympic Gold in Sydney was placed number 1 in the 100 Greatest Sporting Moments. An exemplary role model, Steve’s commitment to the industry has seen him awarded a Knighthood in 2001 for his services to rowing and in 2011 BBC Sports gave Steve the accolade of the Lifetime Achievement Award in honour of his remarkable career.
