Sana Khareghani is a leading authority on artificial intelligence, innovation, and responsible technology. A sought-after keynote speaker, she bridges the gap between technical expertise and ethical policy. Through her virtual talks, she explores how organisations can harness AI to drive progress while safeguarding fairness, accountability, and trust. With over two decades of experience across government, academia, and the private sector, Sana’s work continues to shape how AI is designed, governed, and adopted for public good.
Holding a BSc in Computer Science and an MBA from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Sana built her early career as a software engineer and systems designer before transitioning into consulting. She spent several years with Booz & Company, advising senior leaders across North America, Europe, and the Middle East on digital transformation and strategy. Her grounding in both the technical and commercial worlds helped her develop a rare fluency in translating complex technologies into policy and business outcomes. That balance became a hallmark of her leadership when she entered public service, where she would later define one of the most influential government AI strategies in the world.
In 2018, Sana was appointed Head of the UK Government Office for Artificial Intelligence, a landmark role created to establish the UK’s National AI Strategy. She led the design and delivery of this strategy, overseeing more than £1 billion of public investment and embedding AI principles across industry, academia, and public policy. Under her leadership, the UK cemented its position as a global frontrunner in responsible AI. Following her government tenure, Sana founded SKB Advisory, providing strategic guidance on regulation, policy, and implementation to organisations adopting AI responsibly. She has since taken on the position of Professor of Practice in AI at King’s College London, where she continues to influence research and education in the field.
Today, Sana is the AI Policy Lead for Responsible AI UK, a £35 million initiative connecting international research communities to ensure AI innovation serves humanity. She is also a Trustee of the Institute for the Future of Work and a Board Member of Technovation, supporting global access to technology for young people. Her keynote speeches delve into the ethics of AI, the social implications of automation, and the balance between innovation and responsibility. With clarity and insight, Sana challenges audiences to think critically about the systems shaping our future – helping leaders and policymakers design AI that benefits everyone.
