For his extensive career, Ranulph has been recognised with international accolades, including being named by the Guinness Book of World Records as The World’s Greatest Living Explorer in 1984. The same year, Ranulph was the recipient of the Polar Medal awarded by HM the Queen for his pioneering expeditions to the unknown environment. The former Special Air Services recruit was also the recipient of the Sultan of Oman’s Bravery Award in 1970 for his military work in the region.
