Piers Linney is a successful entrepreneur, famed for being an investor on Dragon’s Den as an investor. Piers has honed his skills as a businessman, which he today uses to inform audiences on topics of financing high growth companies and thinking like an entrepreneur in his online speaking events. Piers has also worked as a Non-Executive Director of the British Business Bank, is the owner of Genesis Communications and the Co-CEO of Outsourcery.
Piers first worked as a solicitor after studying law and accounting. He then went on to work in banking and finance, holding positions at Credit Suisse and Barclays de Zoete Wedd. By 2000, Piers left the banking sector and began his journey as an entrepreneur founding an internet-based business. From that point on Piers has been heavily involved in various business start-ups, spanning the sectors of communications, technology and media. Piers is now an expert in important topics such as finance, the impact of technology and risk management, all of which he covers as an online speaker.
Piers is also widely known for appearing on the programme Secret Millionaire, and for investing in the business Wonderbly which has gone on to become the number one fastest-growing company in Tech Track as of 2017. He has also acted as a trustee of the charity Nesta and website Plotr and has forged a reputation for public speaking about helping budding entrepreneurs to start-up their businesses. Piers has continually received recognition for his work, including being listed in the Top 100 Minority Ethnic Leaders in Technology by the Financial Times and in the Top 100 BAME Leaders in Business 2018 list. He has also been recognised in the Top 100 BAME Leaders in Tech and the Top 100 Most Influential Black Britons on the JP Morgan Powerlist.
