Kate Richardson-Walsh is widely known for her talents on the hockey pitch. Captaining Great Britain and England hockey teams for 13 years, Kate made many victories in play and was capped an incredible 375 times for the country. Some of her greatest victories include being part of the gold medal team at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games and part of the bronze medal-winning team at the London 2012 Olympic Games. Since retiring from playing, Kate has become a hockey coach for Hampstead & Westminster Ladies XI and commented on the sport for BT Sport and BBC radio stations.

Since she was young, Kate has always had a passion for hockey first playing for Didsbury Greys Hockey Club aged just 11. She later played for Hightown Hockey Club, gaining a reputation for her talented and agile abilities for hockey. Before long, Kate was scouted to play as part of the Under 16 Great Britain hockey team. Since then Kate has been playing in prominent hockey tournaments for the rest of her career, to date having played in four Summer Olympics, four Commonwealth Games and four Hockey World Cups amongst matches of domestic hockey too.

As part of Great Britain and England teams, Kate has claimed countless medals with her teammates, including three gold medals, five silver medals and 10 bronze medals. Outside of playing for her country, Kate has also played for the domestic teams Reading, HC Bloemendaal, Leicester, Slough and East Grinstead Hockey Club. In 2016, Kate retired from playing international hockey and is currently called upon to speak about her illustrious career for BT Sport, the BBC and Radio 5 Live. She has formerly presented coverage for the Commonwealth Games and EuroHockey Championship, demonstrating her adept on-pitch knowledge. Kate also shares her time acting as a Women’s Sports trust ambassador and is an ambassador for Access Sport.

Appointed both MBE and OBE for her services to hockey, Kate is now highly sought to cover her illustrious sporting career as an online event speaker.
