Lord Digby Jones is best known for his work as a politician and successful businessman. Widely known for holding positions such as Director General of the Confederation of British Industry and Minister of State for Trade and Investment, Lord Digby has left his mark on society. He is also well known for being a member of the House of Lords, sitting as a crossbencher and created Life Peer, Baron Jones of Birmingham. Lord Digby also dedicated 20 years of his career to working for a law firm.

After studying Law at the University College London, Digby began his early career at the lawyers firm Edge & Ellison. Here he built an extensive knowledge of legal matters, working with the firm for the first 20 years of his career and ultimately appointed as the Senior Partner. He then went on to work for the Confederation of British Industry as the Chairman of the West Midlands Regional Council. Digby went on to serve a number of other roles, such as advisor to Deloitte, JCB, Barclays Capital and Ford as well as the UK Skills Envoy and the Non-executive Director of iSOFT before beginning his political career.

In mid-2007, Lord Digby began his political career as the Minister of State for Trade and Investment. Since his first political role, Digby has gone on to sit in the House of Lords as a Crossbencher and created Life Peer. At one point of his career, Digby even considered running for the position of Mayor of London. He has also acted as a UK Business Ambassador for UK Trade & Investment and Non-executive Chairman to businesses such as Argentex Group Plc, On Logistics Ltd, Triumph Motorcycles, Thatcher’s Cider and Metafloor UK Ltd. Digby has also had a prominent interest in charities such as Friends of the British Library and the National Museum of the Royal Navy.
