A historic sailor, Tracy Edwards is famous for becoming the first-ever captain of an all-female crew to sail around the world. In what is a male-dominated industry, Tracy has become an inspirational figure and was also named the first woman to receive the prestigious Yachtsman of the Year trophy. Having paved the way for women in the Maritime industry, Tracy continues to inspire young girls with her work alongside several charities. An incredibly enlivening virtual speaker, she regularly recalls her time at sea during her speaking events while applying the same techniques to her audiences.

In 1989 Tracy decided to enter an all-female crew in an around the world race. In her own second-hand boat, The Maiden, she led the team to a second in its class finish, winning two out of the six individual legs. A few years later she made history again by taking her all-female crew to the 1998 Jules Verne Trophy. Unfortunately, the team’s mast was broken due to bad weather near Chile and instead she took on a more strategic and managerial role in future sailing expeditions.

As a young girl, Tracy always wanted to take to the sea but had to overcome severe bouts of seasickness. Having spent time backpacking across Europe Tracy found herself working as a stewardess on a yacht. Here her love for sailing was reaffirmed and she was gifted her own second-hand yacht by King Hussein I of Jordan who was a guest. During her virtual speaking events, Tracy can discuss how she overcame adversity before going on to make history.

Recently Tracy has worked with charities like UN Women, The Girl Effect and Girls Network promoting and fundraising for girls’ rights to education in nations across the world. During her virtual speaking events, Tracy uses her story to inspire the next generation of women to achieve their goals whatever they may be. By conducting her fantastic speaking events virtually, she can reach an even bigger audience with her incredible talks.
